ABOUT OUR FARM

Our Farm

Located just outside of Peterborough, our farm offers a peaceful, welcoming environment with easy access from Highway 115 for those coming from the south. The property is beautifully maintained, offering not only a functional space for our horses but also a setting that reflects the pride and care we put into everything we do.

At the core of our farm is a purpose-driven breeding program focused on producing top-quality sport horses. From carefully selected broodmares to promising foals and accomplished show horses, each horse is thoughtfully raised with individual attention, excellent care, and a commitment to long-term soundness and success.

We invite you to explore each part of our program:
Show Horses: Proven athletes currently competing and demonstrating the caliber of our breeding.
Mares: The foundation of our program — selected for pedigree, conformation, and temperament.
Foals & Prospects: The next generation of champions, raised with care and a strong foundation.
In Utero: Exclusive opportunities to purchase upcoming foals from our most exciting pairings before they’re born.

Our entire approach is centered on what’s best for the horse — from the ground up.

THE TEAM

Meet Amy – Owner & Founder

From a young age, Amy's life has been shaped by a deep love for animals. Her passion naturally led her to pursue an education in veterinary technology. Upon completing her technician program, she was excited to be accepted into a university program where she could complete the necessary prerequisites for veterinary school. During those additional years, she took the opportunity to show her mare and further hone her skills in breeding, foaling, training, and showing.
She found herself drawn even more deeply into the equine world, exploring various disciplines and opportunities. Through these experiences, she discovered her true passion: the elegance of hunter riding and the art of responsible horse breeding.
When she found a solid plan, she convinced her family to invest in her goals with the purchase of a nearby farm. She had a great time filling her new property with the horses she most admired—and that’s when OEHS came to life. Around this time, she was accepted into the veterinary program and was able to work through some of the early challenges. However, in her third year, a serious motor vehicle accident changed the course of her journey.
Despite the setback, Amy remained devoted to her path with animals. Today, Amy proudly combines her lifelong dedication to animals with her extensive knowledge of horse care and breeding. As the mastermind behind the business, she brings knowledge, compassion, and integrity to everything she does. Amy is both excited and intrigued by the opportunity to combine her unique talents of her mares with outstanding qualities of specific stallions in an attempt to produce the foals that create excitement in the ring!

Meet Zac Kennedy The Barn Manager

Zac

For the past 11 years, I have dedicated my career to working with racehorses, immersing myself in the intricate and fast-paced world of equine athletes. My journey began with a deep passion for horses, which quickly evolved into a commitment to understanding their care, training, and the unique challenges that come with their management.

Since 2017, I have proudly held the position of Barn Manager at OEHS, where I have had the opportunity to further refine my skills and contribute to the success of our breeding program. In this role, I oversee the daily operations of the barn, ensuring that each horse receives the highest level of care.

Throughout my time at OEHS, I have developed strong relationships with both the horses and their owners, emphasizing communication and trust. I take pride in creating a positive and efficient environment, where each horse can thrive and reach its full potential.

My extensive experience has taught me the importance of adaptability and problem-solving in a dynamic setting. I thrive on the challenges that come with managing a barn full of young horses and broodmares, and I find great satisfaction in contributing to their success in the show ring.

As I continue my journey in the equine industry, I remain committed to excellence, striving to enhance both the care of the horses and the overall performance of our team at OEHS.

Meet Slater Our Beloved Mascot

mascot slater.jfif

Ontario Elite Hunter Sales is very proud of their third team member, Slater. Despite not sharing
completely her mother’s (Amy’s) passion for the equine world, she does appreciate the beauty
of the horses and the routine of farm life. She enjoys a trip to the barn daily and is getting better
at controlling her curiosity about the horses. Sadly, she is affected by many allergens including
grass, dandelions, wood and most of the ingredients in horse feed! Some people would say
having a mascot with this many allergies is a recipe for disaster, but our team works together to
help her avoid triggers. She is an extremely protective partner and works hard to keep
everyone safe.
Our farm would never be the same happy place without Slater!
